Freelance Invoice Tracker in Freelancing

The Freelance Invoice Tracker is a copy-ready spreadsheet that answers the two questions every freelancer needs: who hasn't paid me, and how much should I set aside for taxes? Log each invoice and it shows billed, paid, and overdue totals at a glance, with an automatic tax set-aside column, in both Google Sheets and Excel.

  1. Open the Invoices tab and replace the sample rows with your own — one row per entry. Formulas fill in automatically for new rows.
  2. Log invoices as you send them and mark them Paid when money lands. Due date turns red when a sent invoice is late.
  3. Tax set-aside shows how much of each paid invoice to move to savings, at the rate on the Settings tab.
  4. Using Google Sheets? Upload the file to Google Drive, then open it with Google Sheets (or File → Import in an open sheet). Formulas, dropdowns and highlights carry over.

The file opens locally on your device — nothing is uploaded, and you own the copy outright.

Questions people ask before copying a template

How does the tax set-aside column work?
Pick a percentage, and the template automatically calculates how much of each payment to hold back for taxes — so the money is accounted for before you spend it.
Can it show me which clients haven't paid?
Yes. Mark each invoice's status and the tracker totals what's billed, paid, and overdue, with conditional formatting that flags anything past due.
Is the Freelance Invoice Tracker free?
